Translation - English Chapter 4: The mystical analysis of emotional release and its therapeutic effects
"From cognitive system to emotional system"
Emotions are so important in mysticism that some researchers call mysticism "becoming the master of observing emotions" and emphasize the factor of "emotions" in their analysis of the field of mysticism. Emotional observation is interpreted as an example of the mystical way in Hindu and Buddhist mysticism in such analyses. In this regard, meditations such as observing emotions, relating each emotion to a specific organ, insight meditation, etc. are considered to ignore the importance of the cognitive system in human change, and emotional reactions behind beliefs are considered the main factor. In this way, by doing meditation, one tries to change the focus from the belief system to the emotional system. With this type of meditation, the seeker's emotional system is highlighted. Because it benefits from the two "emotional" and "metacognitive" factors, the emerging emotional system makes the cognitive system serve as an emotional judgment. So the seeker, through meditation, gets used to looking at his body as the emotional center. Insisting on this type of view causes the definition of "self" in the seeker's perspective to be of an emotional set rather than a general one. In fact, questions such as the priority of belief over feeling or vice versa can be considered the axis of difference between psychologists and mystics. It is obvious that the dominance of each of the mentioned viewpoints causes the respective cognitive or emotional results. Therefore, "emotion" as a focal point and its results, which themselves are a part of mysticism, have found seven emotional centers inside the body. Considering that one of the fundamental elements of mysticism is the recognition of feelings against the concept of "belief system," by looking at the psychology of emotional release, we can evaluate the functions of the emotional system. This is known as the "chakra system" in Indian mysticism. We will concentrate on three (analysis of emotions in the body, arousing emotions, and release).
The analysis of emotions in the body
Emotions are the result of a stimulus (internal or external) that stretches from sensory receptors to the central nervous system, has no special cognitive value, and has a completely physiological basis. It is formed around a cognitive axis (security, communication, courage, love, conversation, prediction, and insight). As a result, the meaning of chakras is emotions focused on one of the critical stages of mental development. Together, they form an emotional and meaningful structure that expresses a distinct identity compared to other stages of development.
In the field of educational psychology, the term "growth" can be divided into two general types: mental and emotional. Mental growth is more important in the science of educational psychology and its various branches. It refers to the differentiating stages of a person's growth that give him an identity different from other people. Emotional growth is the growth that a person acquires in relation to others and family members. Mental development is a response to the question, "Name the stages of mental development of human kind," and emotional growth is a response to the question, "How does the process of forming our emotions towards ourselves and others happen?" As a result, children's relationships with family and society cause the formation of an emotional system and give them a collective identity.

Translation - Persian (Farsi) The weather is warm and pleasant. The sun is about to set. We are walking on the street. A street festival is taking place ahead of us. I looked at her. She has a smile on her face. she diverts our path toward the festival. Cuban music warms the air even more. Couples dance salsa with sweaty bodies. The aroma of Mojito has saturated the atmosphere. There is a strong smell of cigarettes. A few homeless people stand further away from the crowd and excitedly watch the dancers. A fat woman with fuzzy hair and brunette skin walks through the crowd and passes the cocktail tray to the audience. Sweat drips from her temples onto her sagging breasts. My eyes roll onto her fleshy and dark lips. There is a cheap cigarette on the corner of her lips whose shaky ashes may fall on the cocktails at any moment. I look at the crowd. I expect their old and cynical leader to crawl out of the crowd in the same muddy clothes, shake his Cuban cigar in our faces and then declare his revolution against our country. The girl pulls my hand and takes me towards the crowd. I hate gatherings of people. I let go of her hand. She frowns. I’m too old for this kind of fun.
She immediately rides the rhythm of the music and steps backward. She turns towards the crowd and finds her dance partner in a fraction of a second. I smile. She bangs her head left and right with the rhythm of the music. Her straight black hair swings in the air like a whip. She dances like a real native. The fat and fuzzy brunette old woman comes toward me with her sagging breasts. A large tray of attractive cocktails is brought to me. The strong smell of sweat coming from her breasts hurts my nose. I look at the cracks on her skin. Her breasts must have fed at least ten children so far. I grab a mojito from the tray. The mild aroma of rum promised an original recipe.
My eyes follow the girl. She laughs and dances salsa next to her new Cuban friends. Among the crowd, all dressed in local costumes, there is only one person in a black suit who dances to the music. It's a beautiful contrast. I smile. I take a sip of my mojito. The active aroma of mint penetrates deep within me. One of the dancers turns his hat in the air and points towards me. I take out my wallet from my coat and put some bills in his hat. The young dancer quickly runs towards the crowd. Donating to charities has always fascinated me. I like the feeling of pride afterwards. I beckoned at the girl with my left hand to come back. She comes back while panting and then she stands in front of me with a wide smile. She grabs the mojito from my hand and drinks it in one go. I take her hand. The warmth of her hands melts me. I brush away the stray black hair from her red lips. I see my image in her eyes. A strange fear grips my soul. I don't want to see my image in anyone's eyes.
- Do you enjoy being popular?
She laughs and says nothing. I put my left hand behind her shoulder and pull her closer to me.
- Can we go?
She puts the glass on a small table.
- Let's go, oldie...

A LITTLE OVER A DECADE AGO, I started the company ClassPass, a fitness and wellness membership that allows members to book classes and experiences online. What most people don’t know is that my original vision for ClassPass was for it to be a LifePass—a way to connect to soul-nurturing experiences, fitness, and beyond.
While ClassPass has soared to millions of reservations across the globe, ClassPass is not just about classes. It is about keeping our passions alive and continuing to discover and evolve even as we get older. “Every life, fully lived” is our vision statement. It’s a way for each person to do the most with the hours of their day, a message this book similarly aims to impart.
LifePass shares my philosophy and offers a guide for living a fulfilled life. People frequently ask me how I was able to craft a career and life out of the things I loved. The answer is always the same: a lot of self-reflection and planning!
It took hard work, but it was worth it. And more so, I believe the methodology I’ve created can be used by anyone to unleash a life of fulfillment, joy, and purpose. I wrote this book to share it with you. In LifePass, I walk you through the step-by-step process I used so you can do it yourself. If I were sitting with you, these are the questions I’d ask and the steps I’d tell you to take.
In conversations and collaborations with incredible entrepreneurs and creators in my own journey, as well as through developing a goal-setting process and sharing it with others, I’ve discovered that there are common things that hold people back. I frequently hear people saying things like, “I can’t do what I love because I don’t have enough money or time,” or “I didn’t know the right people,” or “I didn’t pursue my dream because I lacked a certain skill.” Even deeper than this are the internal limits of not knowing what drives us, feeling like we don’t fit in, the expectations of others, and of course, the fear of failure that can prevent us from even getting started.
I have faced and often still face all of these gating factors. But I have found a way to work through these constraints. Instead of feeling that I can’t do what I love because of obstacles, I’ve learned to break through those barriers to accomplish what I want. I’ve found a way to live free of limits, and my hope is to help others develop that mindset as well.
Translation - Persian (Farsi)

now that we’ve discussed what will make us happy and fulfilled
in our later years and how to stay healthy, let’s finally turn to
money. After all, this subject got me started on this book, and it
may be the reason you originally bought it. For most people, this is
a confusing, complicated, yet boring subject. I’ve done my best to
simplify the strategies to be easily understandable, and keep you
amused at the same time.
We face an intimidating challenge: how to make our financial resources last the rest of our lives. If we follow the advice in the first
two sections, most likely we will prolong our lives into our late
eighties, nineties, or even to 100 and beyond. This will put additional strain on our financial resources, particularly the balances in
our 401(k) plans. Living to 100 will not be enjoyable if we run out
of money at age 80. So, in this section I discuss how to support the
lifestyle we want, taking into account the possibility that we might
live a long time.
In the preceding two sections, I describe my intense interest in
learning more about happiness and health in our later years, and
my quest for more information. This section is a little different.
I’ve consulted to large corporations for nearly 30 years on these
topics. Over the years, I’ve had many discussions and heated debates with my friends and colleagues Larry DiFiore, Cary
Franklin, Dave Hoak, and many others about how to finance our
retirement. The subjects of working lunches for normal people
might be politics, our children, sporting events, or the latest fashions, but we debate asset allocation, the status of Social Security,
and whether to take a lump sum or life annuity from a defined
benefit plan. These are very exciting lunches—I wish you could
join us sometime!
