I am freelance translator working in the language pair German>English. What my resume doesn’t tell you is, that I lived in Germany a total of nine years and still maintain strong contacts there (my children and their mother, to name a few), and therefore a strong connection to the language. While a resident of Germany, I lived and worked alongside Germans every day; I even got my education in multimedia design and desktop publishing in a German-language college. My resume doesn’t tell you about my years in the US Air Force as a vehicle body mechanic or as a welder and trainer in a factory (due to space requirements), but these are just a few more qualifications for my work as a translator; I have worked hands-on in many of the fields in which I perform translations.
