Rarely... I guess Oct 30, 2025

Other than the Harry Potter series, which I’ve read 5 or 6 times, I don’t remember reading anything more than once.

I often reread a few pages of poetry books, but as far as I can remember, I have only reread one prose book. I had loved that book when I first read it, so years later I reread it only to be disappointed and not even understand why I had liked it so much...

World classics - constantly Oct 30, 2025

The ones written (AND translated!!!) between 5 BC and 20 AD - over and over again, not necessarily the whole books but at least my favorite pages.

Thankfully, the rows of them, a bit worn but alive, breathing and full of memories on the shelves are right in front of me; my good old-fashioned paper friends and allies, supporters and saviors in bad moments.

Modern literature - not so often, about 90% - never. Not because it is a bad read but it feels enough. Maybe becau

Modern literature - not so often, about 90% - never. Not because it is a bad read but it feels enough. Maybe because everything wise and enlightening has already been told by the classics a long time ago and in much fewer and clearer words; what's left is the plots, which do not require more than one sitting.

things worth reading again Oct 30, 2025

I've read and re-read classics such as works of Dickens, Jane Austen and others.
I now plan to go back to Madame Bovary, as soon as I have time. I read it when I was 18, so I expect I'll see it differently now I am a lot older! I was just out of convent school and had a limited view of life!

I re-read... Oct 31, 2025

...my Thomas Mann collection recently. I was just a teenager when reading Mann for the first time. I totally loved it but didn't understand much (not that I noticed at the time).
I will probably come back and re-read the lot for a third time in another twenty years.

Often Oct 31, 2025

I have read my favourite book so often I have lost count. The book was falling apart but a friend had her friend re-bind it.
There are quite a few books I like to re-read in whole or in part sometimes. Sometimes I pick up new things I had missed when I read them the first time; sometimes it is just nice, like meeting a good friend I had not seen in some time. And sometimes it was so long since I first read the book that I have forgotten everything except the fact that I liked it and I can
