bandits Jul 22, 2005

have 2 cats. 2 real bandits. 2 completely different personalities. VERY lively. sometimes tiresome. lovely most of the time.
without them, the place would be a house (in fact, a flat), not a home.

"Shared" pet Jul 22, 2005

I don't own any pet, but share a 15 yeard old dog with my parents. My parents can't take him out any more due to their age, so the daily round is my duty - and a welcome excuse to leave the computer at least for a while everyday.

Two cats in (and out of) the house Jul 22, 2005

Hi all,

We've got two cats having a great time both in the house and out in the garden. Sometimes they try to watch me while I'm working. Here's something useful when they come too close - http://www.bitboost.com/pawsense/

Couscous keeps an eye on cursors... Jul 22, 2005

Thanks for that Steffen - I can relate. My ginger boy-cat Couscous is quite fond the cursor on my screen - or anything that moves for that matter! He sleeps in a cosy cat box behind my computer. Quite the scandal when he met the Microsoft Word Office assistant cat...

Salitre, or Sally Jul 23, 2005

I have a little siamese cat called Sally, who I rescued from a beach in Spain where she had been left abandoned. She was tiny when I found her, could fall asleep in the palm of my hand, and was also really poorly. Even the vets were surprised she survived. When I moved back to Britain I spent a small fortune, and a huge amount of time sorting out paperwork (not easy in Spain!) in order to fly her back with me.

Rudi, der rote Kater Jul 23, 2005

I admit that he has a great sense of humor, though, and we have lots of fun together. But we simply cannot stop him from proudly carrying home all the birds and mice he hunts. And mice are real die-hards, you know. They usually come to in the middle of the living room, for example, after a while - a very short while indeed to push them out for the panicked and extremely disgusted lady I am at such times, and yes, I jump on the chair, so what? I had to shut down and unplug the computer to get the mouse hiding between the cables out of the house just two days ago - and it took me about two hours early morning!

By the way, thank you Steffen for this useful link. Do you also happen to have a tip for the problem I've just described?

Regards,
Xola, Still the Felinophile

Two dogs (Weimaraners) and two cats (Maine Coons) Jan 11, 2020

All of them bandits and a great company while translating; in particular the male Weimaraner, he is very attached to me. Can't imagine my day without them!

just the one cat at the moment, and she has been so resolutely hostile to all other pets, that she has somehow survived, that I don't want to get any more. She's getting old, and is not in fantastic health, so I'll wait and get several who'll grow up together once she's gone.
We've had hamsters, fish, a rat, a dog, cats, one of which had two litters of kittens, and we rabbit-sit regularly for a friend.

Three rescued cats Jan 12, 2020

Happy, lively, playful, loved and loving. Strictly indoors with personal door to the secured private balcony. When I go on trips, 2/3 of my per diem go to my cat nanny, who is also a vet tech from our clinic, for 2 visits a day for medication and TLC time, and a circle of my crazy cat lovers/friends visit them too, as I do for them when they need me. They are always in their familiar environment, they know that I'll be coming back and they run our catified household just fine.

I forgot how to insert pictures here

BTW, I am a cat whisperer, a shelter volunteer, and obtained a lot of knowledge on how to discover and understand signs of various problems at the early stages. Will be happy to help (give a hint, not a vet advise) via personal email.

The best pets live elsewhere Jan 13, 2020

My former wife has two sweet cats who usually greet me at the door when I visit. My daughter has two friendly dogs that I see several times a month. Consequently I enjoy all the advantages of pets without the vet bills, vomit cleanup, walks in the rain or litter box cleaning.
