"더위야 가라"…장흥 물축제 한창

[앵커]

오늘도 푹푹 찌는 듯한 무더위가 이어지고 있는데요.

1급수인 탐진강이 흐르는 전남 장흥에서 더위와 스트레스를 동시에 날려줄 물축제가 한창입니다.

장아름 기자입니다.

어린아이가 물살을 가르며 신나게 내려옵니다.

30도를 훌쩍 넘는 더위가 기승을 부렸지만 시원한 물을 맞는 피서객들의 얼굴에는 하나같이 미소가 가득합니다.

'정남진 장흥 물축제' 현장에 마련된 야외 물놀이장에는 그야말로 '물 반 사람 반'의 풍경이 펼쳐졌습니다.

"오늘 여기 수영장 와서 아빠랑 동생이랑 술래잡기하고 노니까 시원하고 정말 즐거웠어요."

1급수에서만 사는 은어가 노니는 탐진강에서는 물에 둥둥 뜨는 수상 자전거와 카약, 뗏목 등 다양한 체험이 펼쳐졌습니다.

"아이들도 그냥 눈으로만 보는 게 아니라 뛰어도 다니고 만져도 보고 오감으로 느끼면서 하는 거라 훨씬 즐거운 추억을 만들 수 있어서 더 재미있게 놀고 있습니다."

축제 기간에는 매일 대규모 물싸움이 열리고 주민과 관람객이 참여하는 탐진강 수상 줄다리기와 수영대회도 올해부터 새롭게 선보입니다.

"올여름에 만약에 가장 시원한 여름, 즐거운 여름을 보내고 싶다 그러면 정남진 장흥 물축제로 오시면 됩니다."

축제장과 장흥 토요시장에서는 특산물인 장흥 한우와 표고버섯, 키조개를 한꺼번에 싸먹는 '장흥 삼합'도 함께 즐길 수 있습니다.

정남진 장흥 물축제는 오는 6일까지 계속됩니다.

The steamy heat still continues even today.

A water festival that can blow away both heat and stress is in full swing in Jangheung, South Jeolla Province where there the clean and clear Tamjingang River is located.

A child slides down cheerfully through the water.

While the heat that is well over 30 degree Celsius is unyielding, the faces of vacationers in the cool water are all filled with smiles.

In an outdoor pool at the 'Jeongnamjin Janheung Water Festival', there are so many people that you cannot move an inch without touching other people.

"It was fun to come to this pool and to play hide and seek with my dad and my brother today."

At the Tamjingang River in which sweetfish, a species that only lives in the cleanest waters, lives, people can enjoy a variety of experiences such as water bicycles and kayaks.

"It is more fun for children to run around, touch and feel rather than just see, which will make it a much more exciting memory for them."

Large-scale water fights are held every day during the festival and tug-of-war in the water of the Tamjingang River and a swimming meet is newly offered this year.

"If you want to have the coolest and happiest summer this year, you should come to the Jeongnamjin Janheung Water Festival."

At the festival and Jangheung Saturday Market, you can enjoy 'Jangheung samhap', which contains specialties of Jangheung including hanwoo (Korean native cattle), shiitake mushroom, and pen shells, in a wrap.

The Jeongnamjin Janheung Water Festival continues until the 6th of this month.
