and I unloaded the station wagon

while Jon leaned against his canes,

gaping at the shapely potters

and whistling at the macramé artists,

their hair braided into thin, complex knots.

"The flower pots are crapola,

Vi körde in på marknaden,

och jag packade ur bilen

medan Jon stod lutad mot sina käppar

och glodde på de välsvarvade krukmakerskorna

och visslade efter knypplerskorna

som hade håret flätat i tunna, invecklade flätor.
