Source text - Arabic "جوني" شاب تكسّر سرب من أسنانه العلوية, و بقيت السنان الأماميتان,فبدا لي كأرنب, نحيف و طويل,و دائما على شفتيه بسمة طيبة.سألته عن نفسه,فقال إن أمه قتلت,قتلها " الرجال الخضر الصغار" القادمون من الفضاء السحيق."أين؟" "قرب البحيرة الخضراء"(بحيرة في سياتل). قلت له كيف تستطيع أن تتأكد؟ قد يكون قاتلها من الأرض. قال إن الحكومة الأمريكية قبضت عليهم و اعترفوا." و ماذا ستفعل بهم الحكومة الأمريكية؟ هل ستطبق قوانين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية على سكان الفضاء السحيق أيضا؟".قال:"لا!سيبعثون لكل ضحية لهم, مثلي, برجل صغير أخضر منهم, ليفعل به ما يريد". " و ماذا ستفعل برجل من الفضاء جاءك بالبريد من واشنطن د.س؟" ابتسم-كعادته- و أجاب بعد أن أبدى إعجابه بأسناني الأمامية,"سأبعثه إلى المدرسة في سياتل,ليعرف أن مدارسنا ممتازة, مثل مدارسهم فوق!"
و اختفى جوني لمدة شهرين, و فجأة ,ظهر بقبعة كاوبوي في مدخل محل الألعاب,مبتسما كعادته. ماذا حدث؟ قال: كنت أمشي عاريا في الشارع فألقت الشرطة القبض علي, دون إبداء اي سبب, مجانين! و تأرجح رأسه من شدة العجب من غرابة سلوك الشرطة.
كان جوني ينام في أماكن محددة, بقرب جذع شجرة مثلا, و أحيانا يستولي مشرودون آخرون على مكانه, هذا هو جوني: إنسان بلا مكان كون لنفسه هوية " متخيلة":رواية عن فقدانه لأمه, و عن صلة فقدانها بمخلوقات خضراء من الفضاء السحيق.مرات,تحت تاثير المخدرات" كان يتخيل ديناصورا ينظر إليه من بين أعالي شجر الغابة, ويحيا بعمق في عالمه المتخيل. و من أنا؟ شخص يصر بأن له"هوية حقيقية"؟ لم لا انحت رواية, محض خيال, عن "جذوري"؟ و ما الدليل أن جذوري"حقيقية"؟
جوني كائن خفيف:لا يحمل تاريخا.أما مواليد برج حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط من أمثالي,فهم ورثة التورة الزراعية و استئلاف الماشية في العصر الحجري, ورثة اقدم ثورة في التاريخ,ونشوء القرى و المدن. و تلبسني هذا التاريخ السحيق: و لدت في قرية, و ذاكرتي قروية, و بابل و مصر إرثي, اما أشكال جوني, فلا ذاكرة لهم إلّا" المدن الكبرى" الحديثة, لا يعرف و لم يسمع بشيء يدعى قرية أو فلاحين. الحضارة الأمريكية البيضاء مثل جوني: بلا تاريخ يذكر, خفيفة. التاريخ في البحر المتوسط عميق و ثقيل, في أمريكا"سطحي" و إلا حدّ ما ضحل. جعلني جوني أشعر بأني من عالم آخر, من نفق في الزمن يمتد إلى العصر الحجري, لست ابنا أصيلا للمدن الكبرى الحديثة.

Translation - English Johnny was a guy with only two front teeth of his upper ones left unbroken to give him the resemblance of a rabbit. He was slim and tall and always kept a kindness smile. He told me once that his mother was murdered by "the small green men" coming from the outer space."Where was she killed?" I asked then. "Near the Green Lake". "But why are you so assured? Couldn't the murderers have been terrestrials?" His answer was that the American government had arrested them."And what will the government people do with them? Will the American law be applied on those outer space inhabitants too?" I inquired. "No! They will send each of the victims a little green man to do whatever she/he desires with it" Johnny answered." And what'll you do with a space creature posted from Washington D.C?" He smiled as usual and after showing his admiration of my front teeth said, "I will send it to a school in Seattle to make it know that our schools are just as excellent as theirs up there!"
After that, he disappeared for about two months to reappear at the entrance of the amusement center putting a cowboy hat and wearing his accustomed smile. "What's happened?" -"I was walking naked in the street before the police arrested me without giving a goddamn reason. Insane!" He said that with his head shaking as to show an astonishment of the policemen's behavior.
He used to catch his Z's in some certain places such as the side of a trunk. Sometimes he was rubbed his place by other tramps. That was Johnny: a homeless person creating an "imaginary" identity, fabricating a story about a lost mother and relating it to green creatures coming from the outer space. Sometimes he would imagine- influenced by drugs- that a dinosaur was localized on high forest tree watching him. He dwells deeply inside his conceived world. Now who am I? A person insists on having a "real identity"! Why don't I create an imaginary story about my "roots"? After all, is there any evident that my" real" roots are real?
Johnny has a light existence. He has no history on his shoulders unlike us-the children of the Mediterranean Basin. We hold a history goes back to the Stone Age's agriculture revolution and animal taming. We are the heirs of the first revolution in the world, the heirs of the builders of villages and cities. Suddenly that immemorial history haunted me: I was born in a village, my memory is rural and the Egyptian and Babylonian civilizations are my inheritance while someone like Johnny has only the memory of a big modern city's resident. He must never have heard words like (villager). The Mediterranean Basin's history is deep and heavy where the American one is superficial and to a degree shallow. The "white American civilization" is like Johnny: light and unburdened with antiquity. Johnny made me sense the eeriness. I felt like someone coming out of a tunnel that starts at the Stone Age. I am not a genuine son of the big modern cities.

Washington's pathetic capitulation to Israel while pleading for a meaningless three-month freeze on settlement expansion -- excluding Arab East Jerusalem -- should go down as one of the most humiliating moments in U.S. diplomatic history.
In September the last settlement freeze ended, leading the Palestinians to cease direct talks with Israel. Now the Obama administration, desperate to lure Israel into a new freeze and thus revive the talks, is grasping at invisible straws -- and lavishing gifts on a far-right Israeli government.
The gifts include $3 billion for. The largesse also happens to be another taxpayer grant to the U.S. arms industry, which gains doubly from programs to expand the militarization of the Middle East.
U.S. arms manufacturers are subsidized not only to develop and produce advanced equipment for a state that is virtually part of the U.S. military-intelligence establishment but also to provide second-rate military equipment to the Gulf states -- currently a precedent-breaking $60 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia, which is a transaction that also recycles petrodollars to an ailing U.S. economy.

إن الإستسلام الرهيب الذي تبديه واشنطن أمام إسرائيل أثناء تضرعها للحصول على تجميد واه لبناء المستوطنات لمدة ثلاث أشهر يسنثني مستوطنات شرق القدس العربي سيجعل التاريخ يتذكر هذه المرحلة كواحدة من أكثر مراحل الدوبلوماسية الأمريكية تواضعا.
و كان إنهاء تجميد بناء المستوطنات السابق في أيلول قد أدّى إلى انسحاب الطّرف الفلسطيني من المفاوضات مع اسرائيل واضعا إدارة أوباما في حالتها الحالية من و العجزأمام محاولة استدراج اسرائيل إلى إعادة التجميد و بالتالي إنعاش المفاوضات.
هذه الإدارة في نفس الوقت تغدق الهدايا على حكومة اليمين المتطرف الإسرئيلية فتقدم لها مثلا 3 بلايين من الدولارات لشراء الطائرات المقاتلة. المبلغ السخي الذي يمكن إعتباره منحة دافعي الضرائب الأمريكان إلى قطاع صناعة الأسلحة في بلدهم و الذي تتزايد عائداته من برامج التوسع العسكري في الشرق الأوسط.
فمصنعوا الأسلحة الأمريكان يدعمون إنتاج و تطوير المعدات المتطوّرة للدولة التي تعد عمليا تابعة لمؤسسة الاستخبارات العسكرية الأمريكية و في الوقت ذاته يزوّدون دول الخليج بمعدّات من الدرجة الثانية– سيتم بيع أسلحة بقيمة 60 بليون دولارإلى المملكة العربية السعودية في صفقة غير مسبوقة تضمن إرجاع عائدات النفط السعودية للدوران داخل منظومة الإقتصاد الأمريكي المنهك
