I am not sure which language grouping this question should be in but i will try it like this. I need to know how to write the name Metin using the Arabic alphabet. However I am not sure if Arabic characters will show on screen.

: ãíÊíä sounds nice. It emphasizes the word is not Arabic (in a way it is not... it's originally Arabic but not Arabic when used as a proper noun) so I think it's nice to emphasize just the way the word is pronounced.

The word Metin is definitely Turkish. In Turkish it has two meaning. First, as a common noun "metin" and this means an article or a text from Arabic Metn and Persian Metin. Secondly, as a proper noun "personal name" that Turkish has borrowed from Arabic and it does mean the strong, the one with good behaviour , etc... It IS متين although the word is not used as a proper noun in Arabic. It's rather an adjective in Arabic. : Then we're talking about the same word, but it's apparently undergone some transformation in Turkish: it's a male name AND means *spiritually* strong; used in a certain cliche, though: "Metin ol" [Keep strong] is what we say to the relatives of a deceased

:) The Arabic word ãÊíä doesn't really mean "fat man"!Atcually it is more likely to describe things than persons!However, when it does, it denotes physcial(& to some extent)moral/spiritual strength!In Arabic,the word rahter stresses the physical aspect.:)
