I agree with Maximiliano's answer, but also found this bilingual text where they use "carrying winds":
La llegada a Santa Lucía fue el pasado día 13 de diciembre, después de haber recorrido 2.700 millas náuticas con ***vientos portantes*** de NE.
The arrival in St. Lucia was last December 13th, after a run of 2,700 nautical miles with ***carrying winds*** from the NE.
