All right. I know Russia is a complicated country -- no place to be for a simpleton like myself. My (and most everybody else's) understanding of "concert" is something done by a performer to collect revenue. From what you're saying it appears that there are various kinds of revenue-generating events, and there may be subdivisions in each: "Отчетные концерты различного рода". That is beyond me; when I go to a concert, it is always the same kind of thing. But even if it is true that there are completely distinct kinds of concerts in Russia, we cannot simply refer to something that requires pageloads of explanation in order to be understood by our reader. Our goal here is to equate roughly similar concepts based on what we hear in both languages.

Granted, if you want to emphasise the style of the source language more than the meaning, you might come up with an expression that is deliberately strange and ugly but is a valid representation of the use of words by the speakers of that language. As an example, try to translate this obvious sovietism in your own writing: "трудовой и творческой деятельности".

Уважаемый Gene Selkov. Я уже упоминал, что recital, судя по всему, ограничен учебным и хореографическим контекстом. Аскер не уточнил, таков ли данный случай. При этом в рабочем графике любого профессионального коллектива в России существуют обязательные "отчетные" регулярные выступления. Иногда ежегодные, иногда - ежемесячные. Моя мать -- известный в Питере музыкант, работает в концертном агентстве. "Отчетные" концерты различного рода для нее -- нормальный факт трудовой и творческой деятельности. Они за это зарплату получают и обязаны "отчитываться" обязательными концертами. Значит ли это, что термин recital может употребляться как annual, monthly, weekly, означая именно то, что я сказал? Пассаж насчет "sick mind of a communist hierarch" оставляю на Вашей совести.

All adjectives you mentioned, especially "обязательность", are implied when you define it as a periodic event.

In a school context, no adjectives are needed, because the main purpose of school recitals is to show off. To counter the apparently Chinese (and patently soviet-derived) example you posted, here's a similar one from the town where I used to live:

"Got a performer in your family? Let them shine at Naperville Dance Academy! Register now to be a part of the Naperville Dance Academy Spring Dance Recital."

I did not claim that the word "отчет" is not known in the world. I meant to say that its combination with "concert" would be strange and ugly. I think it could only arise in a sick mind of a communist hierarch.

"Отчетный" в этом смысле -- входящий в обязательный рабочий план муз. коллектива, который получает зарплату, чаще всего государственную. Так сказать, итоги работы за год. Поэтому можно написать recital/concert/performance, однако как передать смысл "отчетности в работе", "обязательности", "части рабочего плана, за который получают зарплату"?
