synchronising
It may have to do with synchronising assisted GPS data to the satellite, but I'm not sure how the satellite "number" could come into play here.

Discussion
(There is a minimum of six geo-static satellites which the land-based source uses in pairs if not triads to work out its shifting GPS.
It does so by triangulating from each its response time to the source's "how far am I from you?" query signal. and converting the lag times received into 3 separate relative distance vectors.
So why a code No. for each satellite? to determine from which each response signal comes from. Without this 'reference points' info, the distance data alone is useless for triangulation calc.
