Im Zusammenhang mit "massima corrente omopolare" und "tensione omopolare" scheint mir die zweite Bedeutung zuzutreffen.

Dicesi corrente omopolare un terzo della somma delle correnti che percorrono i cavi in un determinato punto; se la somma non è nulla c'è una richiusura dovuta a un guasto a terra (a valle o a monte del punto considerato).

Funzione
Il rilevatore di corrente omopolare CSH160 consente la misura diretta della corrente residua per la realizzazione della protezione di massima corrente omopolare (ANSI 51N) e della direzionale di Terra (Ansi 67N tipo 3) anche ad alta sensibilità.
