Italian term
50 ANNI DI PANE E IDEE...
Italian to English
Marketing
Retail
Marketing slogan
I am working on a translation for an Italian company that manufactures bread products (Moratopane.com). Although I submitted the translation a week ago and had it approved, the client has now come back to me asking for some alterations.
There are a few areas of the translation that are causing me difficulties.
Firstly, the company's slogan is "Pane & Idee", literally "Bread & Ideas", but this sounds odd in English and I am not sure how best to translate it otherwise—or indeed whether I should translate it at all! Does anyone have any suggestions? Would "inspiration" perhaps be an apt translation of "idee"?
Another translation that has caused me problems is "Sapere, fare, immaginare Il nostro modo di pensare da 50 anni". I originally translated it as "Knowing, doing, imagining... Our philosophy for the last 50 years", but the client was not satisfied with this, saying it is too literal. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this could be improved?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Ian,
I would like to help - it's not easy to translate something that would sound pathetic in English. I also like your idea of inspiration.
Hope this helps!

Hi Lesley. Thank you for your suggestion. I think you have conveyed the original meaning well with that translation. |

Discussion
2.1 One term is allowed per question.
Including multiple terms for translation in a single KudoZ posting interferes with the process of generating glossary entries.
2.2 Texts posted for translation via KudoZ should be limited to approximately ten (10) words.
For longer texts, it is recommended that the directory or job posting system be used to locate an appropriate professional. See a more detailed description here.
