Italian term

Indice di scostamento Fuel

Italian to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) part of contract relating to price of fuel
This heading appears in a contract for logistics services involving road transport. The following entry appears after the above "Incidenza sui corrispettivi dell’indice di scostamento:" but I am having difficulty finding the correct translation for the "indice di scostamento". Can anyone help please?

Hi Phil, I hope this is useful:
http://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/statistics/weekly-oil-bulletin
Indice di scostamento Fuel:
([(c.) / (b.)] – 1)
Incidenza sui corrispettivi dell’indice di scostamento:
25%
Franchigia:
Calcolo dell’adeguamento:
(a.) x (d.) x (e.)

Maggie I'm inclined towards Anthony's answer, but I can't visualise exactly what your source text says. Could you possibly cut and paste it? And if it's a heading, what does it say underneath? Thanks!

Changes in fuel costs

"Indice di scostamento" is just a way of saying deviation (it also means "standard deviation"-) It doesn't refer to some sort of published index. Here it sounds like a question of the impact of changes in fuel costs on prices/payments.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Yes, "indice" means "formula" here, but you can leave it out because it's obvious.

neutral tradu-grace : Hi Anthony, don't you think there's a slight difference between "changes" and "deviation" or "varience"? Thanks a lot for your reply. Have a nice day. Grace

impact on the variance index, fuel consumption

as so often with these abstract verbal fur balls, one has to step back and understand the underlying reality. It is probably even more simple : impact on fuel consumption, but that would violate the prohibition against clarity through simplicity, i.e. against parole povere.
