It is a school certificate which contains a table with two columns: the left-hand side column lists "materie d'esame" while the right-hand side column entitled "sessione unica" contains the evaluation, in this case "sex" for all the courses/exams.

It is common practice on handwritten reports to write grade 6 as "sex" = sei. It is written with an X so students cannot alter it and turn it into a "sette" with a few strokes of the pen!

: Fascinating! But if it's the grade column, it should arguably say "grade" at the top.

final exam
the problem with this term is that it provides an information - only one examination (session) instead of the usual 5-7 tests (sessioni) given in university or school courses - which no one else cares to know, hence no technical equivalent in English. "Final exam" at least gives the right impression; single or unique exam would not. Nor would "consolidated grade", e.g., as there are no intermediate results to consolidate.

Agree with Wolfgang but I would go even further and just say "exam", as opposed to a continuous assessment approach. Otherwise why the need for unica. Was also thinking maybe plenary session but would not quite make sense in context, although conceivably still possible.
