neutral  James (Jim) Davis: "Set" an alarm; "arm" a missile? Firstly I am native English and I would never say "I have armed the burglar alarm". Secondly "arm an alarm" gets 10,000 hits on Google "set an alarm" gets 450,000, so I see I am not in an eccentric 45 to one minority.
