The main thing to realise is that the act of counterfeiting is not the only “έγκλημα περί το νόμισμα”, but that the term can also be used to refer to other crimes related to counterfeiting such as making counterfeit money available, possessing counterfeit money, importing and exporting counterfeit money, distributing counterfeit money, using counterfeit money and possessing tools and equipment for the purpose of making counterfeit money as is confirmed in the following example:

Coinage offences are sometimes also called counterfeiting crimes, but the difference between coinage offences and counterfeiting crimes is that coinage offences relate solely to money and legal tender (securities, bonds and anything commonly used in place of money), whereas counterfeiting crimes relate to all forms of counterfeiting, including product counterfeiting, document counterfeiting, and a lot more. agree GEORGIOS-ORESTIS ZOUMPOS : I agree; depending on the context I have sometimes used the term "currency-related crime ", but the term suggest in this thread is more suitable.

Currency related Crime

I understand, here, 'νόμισμα' is used as a General term for Currency. Which can come in different forms, not just paper money or coinage, but would, also, include
such things as Credit Cards, Cheques, Convertible documents, Stocks and Shares Certificates, Money Laundering and other sophisticated criminal activities pertaining to 'Currency'. It might be 'Counterfeiting', small, compared to electronic crime, for example. Robberies from Companies and Banks. All these constitute
Currency Related Crime.
A more General Term would be 'Financial Crime', which encapsulates every crime one can imagine.
