Austrudelung (Evorsion) durch WasserwirbelAls Auswaschungen bezeichnet man in der Geologie genauer gesagt in der Geomorphologie durch fliesendes Wasser verursachte Formen der Erosion auch als Fluviale Prozesse bezeichnet. Das Wasser führt Sand und Steine mit, das so genannte Geschiebe, dieses wirken auf das das Flussbett umgebende Gestein wie ein Schleifmittel man spricht auch von Abrasion. Dadurch entstehen unterschiedliche Talformen wie Klammen, Schluchten, Canyons, Kerbtäler in ihnen entstehen durch Strömungshindernisse spezielle mechanische Auswaschungsformen wie Gumpen, Kolken, Tumpfe, Hohlkehlen, Strudellöcher, Strudeltöpfe, Stromstriche, Prallhänge, Gleithäng, Mäander, Korrasionen, Gletschermühlen.
Durch Austrudelung (Evorsion) kommt es meist am Fuß von Wasserfällen zur Ausbildung von flachen, runden Kolken, oft sind auch von Wirbeln erzeugte Erosionsformen oder Löcher mit spiralig gedrehten Wänden zu beobachten. Ein Strudelloch bringt manchmal einen Hühnergott hervor.

Besonders eindrucksvolle Auswaschungen finden sich und sind beispielsweise der Grand Canyon, und der Maligne Canyon.

Eine andere Form der Auswaschung stellt der Karst mit seinen Karren, Dolinen und Höhlen dar.

sorry to tell you, but karren is the English word too. Otherwise maybe 'karren grooves' or 'gravitational grooves' but I don't think that gets us very much further...
