That makes it hard to know whether it's ribbed inserts/plugs or lamella inserts/plugs!!

I am not completely sure, but I think this is it.

a) go to : Deutsch > left hand side: Produkte (nur Überblick) and here "Stopfen (in der Homepageübersicht)"
b) go to : English > left hand side: Products > "Inserts & plugs"

agree Gareth McMillan : This one's probably OK.

end cap or closure

This are used to 'finish' the ends of cut tubes. They have retaining fins/lamella on the insertion portion. I would disregard that in English.

neutral Dr. Georg Schweigart : Why disregard in English???

Because in my experience, normal usage does not include this feature. This is not unusual that English is more concise and does not include technical detail in an expression. Just think of the proper description of a [computer] bug!

lamella plug

Again me. I already have submitted an answer. But when googling, I found that there might be different possibilities how to translate.

@Gareth and @Stephen: As I said, I only found it when googling. Thus it is my first (my other) idea "ripped plug".
Peer comment(s):

disagree Gareth McMillan : Can't use lamella in english in this context, IMO.
