German term or phrase: Moderlicht
From a German play, in the middle of a list in a description of what it'd be like to be sent to a dungeon/prison. I understand Moder as musty, but musty light just doesn't sound English - any suggestions? The whole phrase is "Mauern, Mauern, Mauern, Gitter, Stacheldraht, Schießschartenlicht, Moder- und Zwielicht, wer muß das, wer will das"

dank
Explanation:
This term always has a moist, low-light connotation to it for me.

dank, musty, dimly lit, stifling, with the aroma of urine and cleaning agent wafting through the poorly ventilated semi-tombs that serve as the waiting room to Hell!

OK, enough coffee for today!
