visit number Explanation: can hardly be anything else. Probably in the context of a clinical trial where the 'visit number' also serves as an identifying number for the participating patients. |

patient hospital visit number Explanation: 1. i don't think it refers to the total number of visits but rather to the visit 'code' per individual patient. 2, technically, you are right in that 'inpatient stay' denotes hospitalization while 'visit' is taken to be office visit on an outpatient basis. But if you say 'hospital visit', it would cover the possible overnight stays, i.e. inpatient stays, as well.... they're just keeping track of how many patients 'check-in'; it's not about the length of stay, that should be a separate entry. |
