German term

Rauung (in this context)

German to English Medical Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) Plastics
The full phrase is "*Rauung* im Handbereich zur besseren Griffigkeit gegen Aufpreis.

This is for a promotion for a polymer-based protective hand covering

Leo has no entry for Raung, but for rauen it cites three textile-base words to nap , raise and ahag; the alternaticve is roughen . Since no textiles are involved I presume Rauung is roughening. Confirmation or alternative required (for points)

Ellen Kraus Mar 15, 2010:
to Jonathan: thanks, but the fact that latex as material is not involved here doesnot change matters. On the contrary, it makes the term I suggest even more to the point.
Ellen Kraus Mar 14, 2010:
to Susanne: Latex-coated medical gloves with napped crinkle surface. see also the following reference:www.tradekey.com/kp-gloves-latex/page_no/5.htm

'Textured surface' might be another option

Enhanced 'grippy' textured surface provides outstanding touch sensitivity

Note from asker:
FYI, Ellen. perhaps i should have given more background, although it did appear in related questions that I sent . Essentially these are NOT gloves for medical purposes, but to protect people working manually with potentially dangerous materials,. Also, they are made of very sturdy materials (polymers) - nothing like latex at all.

neutral Marga Shaw : Please read the question and the background info given re. this question.

I dont see why you find fault with my answer. After all the links I posted confirm that napping may also be used with latex.
neutral Susanne Schiewe : I can't find 'napped' referring to medical gloves in your link//Please read the context info;I don't think 'Griffigkeit' refers to the inside of the gloves - and your link in the discussion area doesn't work
