German term

Langrubrum

German to English Law/Patents Law (general)
"Langrubrum Amtsgericht Pforzheim" is taken from a set of documents accompanying a summons to appear

It is quite clear what a "Rubrum" is, but is there an accepted English-language term for "Langrubrum"?

Discussion

Willis (asker) Dec 7, 2020:
Thank you to everyone who posted on my question. Your suggestions and remarks were very helpful. The final destination of the document was in fact Queensland. No one suggested any specifically Australian solution, consequently the universally-understandable "long-form summary" was to my mind preferable.
Margaret Marks Dec 6, 2020:
Which jurisdiction? Asker says the terminology must be for 'outside UK'. What does that mean? England and Wales terminology is not limited to England and Wales (to say nothing of Scotland). I agree that 'caption' is more US. But I don't think this is a summary.
Peter Lautz Dec 6, 2020:
Das Langrubrum ist das vollständige Rubrum mit Namen, Anschriften, ggf. Beruf und Staatsangehörigkeit der Parteien und Namen und Anschriften der Anwälte.
Das Kurzrubrum heißt nur
z.B. Müller :/.Meier.
David Hollywood Nov 30, 2020:
"Rubrum" maybe in the sense of "item"
Willis (asker) Nov 30, 2020:
Context -- Langrubrum Context
This is the whole table in which the term appears. As I said, this is in an application for custody in a family court, so I cannot give more context. Langrubrum appears in item 5.

With thanks for help,

Willis

Langrubrum philgoddard is quite correct, I did not define "Rubrum" as it is an accepted and often used legal term, and is in the German-language Wikipedia.

It is the form "Langrubrum" which I have not been able to dig up and am wondering what English term might be most suitable.
philgoddard Nov 30, 2020:
You didn't actually tell us what Rubrum means. Here's Wikipedia:

Willis (asker) Nov 30, 2020:
Langrubrum The term occurs in a table listing documents communicated electronically concerning a dispute over parental custody. The document has to be put into English as one of the partners is living in an English-language country.
"Rubrum" is explained in the German Wikipedia and Wiktionary, but not "Langrubrum".
Do you think "long-form summary" is acceptable?
Willis (asker) Nov 30, 2020:
This is from a civil case in family court. The following is the whole entry, which occurs twice:

Schriftsatz Langrubrum Amtsgericht Pforzheim, - Familiengericht - .pdf
AllegroTrans Nov 30, 2020:
More context would help Please tell us what follows this and what is the content of the documents, what kind of case this is (civil/criminal) etc.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This was, in fact, the solution I came up with on my own as it provides a clear explanation of the document. The translated document was destined for an English-language jurisdiction outside anywhere in the United Kingdom, consequently a clear statement rather than an England-specific term was to be preferred."

My answer is context-based rather than drawn from a knowledge of what the word means, as I have legal training and attend civil courts as an advocate.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Or anything along those lines. The asker's "long-form" is fine too.

long-form caption

Caption (or heading, or even recitals) is a standard term for Rubrum.
Note from asker:
Thank you for your suggestion. The "long-form" part hits the nail on the head, but the translated document was destined for an English-language jurisdiction outside the US. In the end, one answerer and myself came up independently with "long-form summary". It is clear and has the advantage of not being bound to any single jurisdiction.
Peer comment(s):

agree John Augustus Foulks (X) : In the US this is absolutely called a caption. "Full caption" would do.

I agree that caption is US. But this isn't a summary. 'Recital of parties' is the closest I can come for Rubrum. I am an English solicitor by training but regard that as irrelevant! This common-law terminology (recital etc.) is not limited to England and

full judgment title

Das englische Langrubrum ist anders aufgebaut (kürzer), hat aber die gleiche Funktion. Die Namen der Anwälte folgen unmittelbar.
Example sentence:

The full Judgment title is R (D&D Bar Services Ltd) -v- Romford Magistrates Court and the London Borough of Redbridge [2014] EWHC 213 Admin).

Captions in US federal courts

See these "caption" forms published by the US federal courts. (You will see they contain exactly the same type of information as Johanna's helpful reference in German.) However, "captions" in US law would not enumerate the counts of a complaint. Another functional difference may be that it would not ever be considered a separate document. Rather, the information it contains, usually printed in a rigid format, is required to head every document on the docket for that case. A "caption" has no stand-alone status.
