German term

anwaltlichen Vergleich

German to English Law/Patents Law (general) Divorce application

Target is UK/ Ireland.

My attempt:
If the respondent likewise wishes to forego same and obtains legal representation on the matter, then the pension rights adjustment may be excluded from ***legal comparison*** at the hearing.

Discussion

Lorna O'Donoghue (asker) Mar 19, 2014:
Thank you both very much for clarifying this... Should make the 5pm deadline now ;-)
Heike Holthaus Mar 19, 2014:
"Versorungsausgleich durch anwaltlichen Vergleich" gehört hier zusammen
... the pension rights adjustment by settlement ... may be excluded from the hearing

simply meaning because they settled on this issue, it does not need to be discussed at the hearing
Hans-Jochen Trost Mar 19, 2014:
settlement The legal term "Vergleich" is translated as "settlement", and "anwaltlich" means that the attorneys representing the parties would negotiate this on behalf of their clients, witnessed (at least informally) or even approved by the/a judge. There is a formal definition for this:

ratifiable settlement between both sides' lawyers

Ratifiable: the court would need to rubber-stamp the arrangement.
