Yes, ergänzend is supplemental, supplementary, etc. But supplemental wouldn't make any sense here. There is nothing in this contract that points to any other law than the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. Ergänzen can also be amend, which might apply to a contract, i.e. for modifying the contract. Please no guesses. I really need to see if someone is familiar with the German legal concept of ergänzendes Recht.

The Italian and French versions of the German term "ergänzendes Recht" in the Swiss law are "Droit complémentaire" and "Diritto complementare". So how about "complementary law"?
This is a excerpt from NYU law material:
"Is it possible to introduce a concept such as 'COMPLEMENTARY LAW' in an attempt to come to terms with abnormal situations such as genocide or 'ethnic cleansing'?
Pretty abnormal in itself, but I think this translation is OK.
