Explanation:
Hört sich im Deutschen ja schon sehr dramatisch an. Ich finde auch "by my own efforts" gut, weil es nicht eindeutig finanziell belegt ist: Ausbeuten kann ja auf vielen Ebenen geschehen. Mein Vorschlag ist eher "auf eigene Faust".
