Es gilt der Gerichtsstand des Versicherungsnehmers. Der Versicherungsnehmer ist berechtigt, einseitig den Gerichtsstand innerhalb der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zu verlegen. Der Versicherer akzeptiert das.

Applicable (to this contract) is the legal venue of the insured. The insured is entitled to move the legal venue within the Federal Republic of Germany unilaterally. This is accepted by the insurer.

  -> Thank you, Niel. Yes, I was also debating whether I should use “shall be” or “is” in this case; I think that either would work. And yes, you are exactly right: The “policyholder” is not necessarily the “insured (person/party),” i.e., the “Versicherte.” :)

Your translation is not ideal as you have remarked yourself. One cannot move around the place of jurisdiction. We would normally say something along the lines I suggested.

I remember we often got insurance documents that contained the terms insurer (insurance company) or insuree (the insured).
