in an interview with joint-directors of a theatre
An interview with two joint-directors of a theatre.
Was ist Ihre Doppelspitze für Sie: Beruf, Berufung oder Mission?
Eine schöne Frage, die sich aber eigentlich von selbst beantwortet. Wir sind einfach doppelt spitze.

: Like this, then? "What does having two heads mean to you?" "Two heads are better than one"...

We were not invited to translate the preceding question. Is that how you would do it, then ("What does having two heads mean to you?")? I am sure that the asker can come up with a better idea than that, e.g. joint directorship (see question).

: The wordplay doesn't translate, but this is a good idea. And as you say, we're not being asked to translate the question.

dual leadership
I think this is the expression you are looking for in regards to two directors leading a theatre.
A book title has also been rendered in English with this expression in regards to double collaborations in Arts.

Steffen Walter
: The double entendre (the other meaning of "spitze" is "outstanding" or "top-class") would be lost in your translation.

dual act at the top
We already know what "doppelte Spitze" means. A translation that only explains the German merely reinvents the wheel. Far more relevant, IMO, is the question of what to do with the pun.. That takes a transcreational effort - and you have to translate all the lines to make sure they fit together.
"What does this dual act at the top
mean to you: job, calling or mission?"
"Good question, and you may have already answered it yourself. We're a dual act that's hard to top."

Discussion
It may be that they are joint managers of the theatre, as was the case with the opera house in Wuppertal some years ago for one simple reason: one of them is (was) responsible for the musical theatre (opera, musical, operetta), while the other is (was) responsible for non-music theatre (stage plays). Sorry if this is too late to help you in this case, but I thought it would be sensible to post it.
They were entitled "Opernintendant" and "Schauspielintendant" respectively.
Also agree with Lancashireman. The suggested translation for the question might be understood, but it sounds awfully close to a Q about what it is like to live as a conjoined twin.
If you can shift the focus of the sentence, a phrase such as double or twice the enthusiasm/motivation/expertise etc. may work. In a different context:
"Partner Workouts: Work out with a partner for double the motivation and twice the impact"
