I would appreciate suggestions for a common translation of the word Beistellschrank.
The height of the cabinet/cupboard can be anywhere from 720 to over 1000 mm.
customer has used terms such as occasional and desk-high but none seem to fit all sizes.

side cupboard
This is a colloquial term but I think it should be all right for your customer.
"Beistellen" means to put next to an item of futrniture which is already there, such as a "Beistelltisch", a side table which you put next to a larger table or a bed, sofa etc.

: I don't see anything in the question to indicate that this is an add-on to something else - what would you call it if it's a standalone item?

Well, that's just what "beistellen" implies through the "bei-" prefix, like in other German words. "Beistell-" is sometimes used in a rather vague sense, but "add-on" isn't terribly specific either :-)

: I think this is too big of a furniture piece in this context

: Too specific - I would only ever use this in the context of a dining room. In the old days the head of the house cut the joint of meat on this piece of furniture

Credenza
After having a look at images of Beistellschraenke on Google, I noticed that many of the office furniture items looked like filing cabinets (see URL in reference box below). This suggests to me that 'credenza' (a piece of office furniture with a long flat top and file drawers) might be a suitable translation in this context. See further links below.

Danke für die bisherigen Antworten - sideboard passt leider nicht weil die Möbel sind Büromöbel und auch Magazin und Werkzeugschränke
