Benzine is the commonly used solvent that is used as a cleaner. I've never seen a bottle of benzene standing around.

......within the context provided the reference is clearly (and simply) to petrol (UK) or gasoline (US) used in many situations as a (highly dangerous) cleaning agent ...><)))):>.... (...been there ...done that ....)
