Kids' menu and senior menu
Explanation:
Kids' menu and senior menu are both used by Denny's (just one example). Kids' or children's menu is quite common, and is senior menu.

Usually there are age restrictions on who is allowed to order these menus, ie kids under 13 or something like that, so \"smaller portions\" is a fact, but not available to everyone.

Cilian and Heidrun are right menus are usually lists of what is offered. If you are talking about one dish, then perhaps child\'s portion, senior portion. Since in Switzerland at least, Kinderteller are usually made for kids and served with appropriate decorations they are not the same as what would be served senior citizens. Some restaurants offer 1/2 portions, which are age-neutral and served to everyone.

Herzlichen Dank Euch allen!!
Aber die "menu" Idee fand ich am besten;
Ja, ist schon sehr missverständlich, aber "Kinderteller/Seniorenteller" steht nicht nur für ein Gericht sondern für eine Auswahl von Gerichten!!
Thank God there's proz.com!!

In diesem Sinne ihr Süßen, besten Dank und gute Nacht!!

Bis bald

-> Thanks Hils. I've ordered these on occasion, because of the massive portions in SW Germany, which I expect you remember ;-)

agree  Claire Cox: Yes assuming that it is still the same menu that's on offer for both, not the usual chips and nuggets offered as children's menus in the UK (yuk!)

agree  writeaway: but Teller can also mean platter, can't it-Children's platters tend to have a slightly different choice, not just smaller portions, oder?

-> Thanks W. You could be right in the different selection. I think it varies depending on the locale/Lokal ;-)

children's meal/senior citizen's meal

Explanation:
These are the correct terms if referring to an individual dish, otherwise substitute 'menu' for 'meal'

neutral  Cilian O'Tuama: when I hear 'menu' (but not when I hear Teller), I think of more than one dish
1 hr

neutral  Heidi Stone-Schaller: I agree with Cilian, you couldn't use menu for this
2 hrs

neutral  writeaway: normally from what I always saw in Germany, these are dishes on the menu that are meant for kids or seniors, because of portion size and/or content. I've never seen a separate menu.
