Discussion

Herbmione Granger Sep 9, 2018:
head provisioner of the beer of [name of place]

Another idea.

Owner of [brewery] sounds a lot better.
"ERDINGER Dunkel first saw the light of day in 1989, when ERDINGER’s master brewers created a dark wheat beer as a birthday present for the private brewery’s owner, Werner Brombach. He liked it so much that he decided to put it on the market in 1990."
David Hollywood Sep 3, 2018:
but wouldn't hurt to mention the brewing aspect (although I still think it's superfluous)
David Hollywood Sep 3, 2018:
I think we have to get away from the need to put "brewer" or "master brewer" here as I believe the ST is not going down that road...

6th generation (head) brewer

I'd add in 'generation' as it implies that he or she is the 6th consecutive member of their family to be the head brewer, whereas '6th brewer' just sound like the 6th person the company has had as their head brewer - a family connection isn't necessarily implied.

It's a subtle difference; I guess it just depends on whether you want or need to stress that the head brewer is part of the family.

Yes, Master/Head Brewer (to make it a title and capture David's intentions as well).
Still better, 6th generation Master Brewer includes all aspects.

don't forget that the ST says "Bräu" and not "Brauer/Bräuer"

look at "Als sechster Bräu" and I think it becomes clear that this is figurative = as 6th heir etc.

they don't say "Meisterbrauer" or anything of the sort so I would think about this aspect
Peer comment(s):

neutral Eleanore Strauss : yes ... avoid repetition, but heir doesn't express the capacity to brew.. brewing heir? Yes it is, but in this context it is also a matter of emphasis... not just heir but craftsman

thanks Elli but it's implicit

(Brewery) Owner

6th Owner of the Brewery at [place]

Not sure you need to mention that someone had to die for him to get the title.

„Der Bräu von Minsta“ ist tot
Mit Brauereibesitzer Alfons Hintereder wird am Donnerstag eine Institiution in Chammünster zu Grabe getragen.

David should get more credit. The guy is figuratively the brewery.

A news article in English calls the 4. Bräu von [Name of place], [Name of brewery] Owner/Brewer (yes, capitalized). They also say "4th generation owners."

Another suggestion:
Title: 6th "Brewer of _"
Otherwise: owner, current owner, etc.

https://www.openpr.de/news/383485/ERDINGER-Inhaber-Werner-Br...

Unfortunately, Brewkeeper is not a thing. Master of the Brew? I'm not sure how creative your title should be, but I recommend making the job title, job role, and certification clearly distinct.
Peer comment(s):
