German term or phrase: Fachkraft im Gastgewerbe
I'll admit I'm no catering expert (not that I don't like going out to eat, mind), so I'm not up on the training profiles and qualifications of people employed by eating establishments.

I thought of writing "restaurant and catering professional", but that sounds made up (because it is).

Anyone done any training in this field and can help me out?

agree  Armorel Young: Would be good to know how it fits into the context - if it's a description of a particular person you could say something like "trained/qualified in catering and hospitality work"

In the U.S. at least we use the above if someone works in a restaurant. Hospitality would be a broader term.
