German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Construction / Civil Engineering / construction contract
German term or phrase: Autorenaufsicht
The term appears in a general contractors contract for the construction of a plant. The contractor must ensure the Autorenaufsicht of the work carried out on the project

It is clear what is meant, there is even a definition of it in the contract (provided below). I am currently using work supervision, but this does not at all get at the idea of supervising the authenticity of work. Is there a rough equivalent in English, either with or without authenticity? I have a little room to work with in that the word first appears in a list of definitions for terms used in the contract, so my (your) term can be explained and then used later with this meaning.

First:
AUTORENAUFSICHT: Aufsicht durch die im Rahmen des Bauprojekts beauftragten Architekten oder Unternehmen zur Überwachung der authentischen Umsetzung ihrer Projekte.

Later:
Der Unternehmer gewährleistet die Autorenaufsicht innerhalb der Projektausführung.

Many thanks for your replies!

More or less. Thanks. I ended up deriving my choice of authenticity control from your recommendation. The German is derived, I believe, from a common concern in Russian contracts (it was a contract with an ex-Soviet republic), that of authenticity, i.e. that the work and materials are authentic. In Russian it is called an avtorsky nadzor (Autorenaufsicht).

Thanks again,

Henry
