I think I may be being a bit dopey about this but please can someone explain the sense of the above. It appears in a certificate on a change of surname, in which the husband for some reason is taking on the wife's surname. I found it translated on Leo as " The previous use of name has not been checked under circumstances" which makes no sense to my mind. Thank you for any help
