There are two sentences where this occurs and I don't think the same translation will work for both instances:
Context 1:
Nach dem Mischen wird das Konjugat ca. 10 Minuten gerührt und dann mindestens über Nacht im Kühlschrank gelagert. Vor der Verwendung in einer * Austestung * wird der Ansatz 5-10 Minuten bei Raumtemperatur gerührt...

Context 2:
Je 3 Aliquots von Prozesskontrolle und Cut-off Kontrolle werden bei –20°C aufbewahrt, um evtl später (Reklamationen) eine *Austestung* durchführen zu können.

This could be from Switzerland.
I was thinking 'preliminary test' for context 1 and 'retest' for context 2, but these are very different translations for the same word...

Your suggestion might be okay, too, depending on the context, but just "test" could be appropriate as well.
