German term
Schweißgrund
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Automotive / Cars & Trucks
This term appears in a text regarding vehicle (truck) painting. It seems to be one of several pre-painting procedures. Very few references to be found for the word, however. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
"Auf eine evtl. notwendige Vorbeschichtung (Phosphatierung, Chromatierung, Haftvermittler, Schweißgrund) ist zu achten."

weld primer
Meant is probably a "Grundierung" (a base coat) for the welding process. Weld primer should be the correct translation.

welding spray or anti-spatter spray
The website I found (below) described a pretty toxic aerosol spray used in autobody work, and there are many websites in English for welding spray or anti-spatter spray ("Anti-spatter spray prevents adhesion of weld spatter to MIG nozzle and weld surface"). Would this work? I'm no expert on autobody work.
