German term

Fernbahnhöfe

German to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations Tourism literature
This appears in a text which advertises Berlin as a tourist destination. The sentence is :

" Selbstverstaendlich ist Berlin ein Knotenpunkt des Intercity-Netzes mit Fernbahnhoefen wie Bahnhof Zoo oder dem Ostbahnhof"
Thanks :)

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Richard Nice

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Markus Heinr (X) (asker) Aug 22, 2010:
Wow! :) Thank you all for the help. I will try all suggestions and see which one fits into the text the best. Thanks again!
Michael Wetzel Aug 22, 2010:
in case anyone is interested Zoologischer Garten has been a "Regionalbahnhof" (with a few marginal exceptions but no ICE/IC traffic) for several years now. There was a very big stink about it at the time.
Sarah Bessioud Aug 22, 2010:
Interregional hits the nail on the head, but the sentence already contains the words intercity train network (unless Xirod has come up with another solution for Inercity-Netzes) . Having intercity and interregional in the same sentence is a little clumsy. IMO, mainline is sufficient if this is further qualified with the intercity train network.
Bernd Runge Aug 22, 2010:
How about interregional (long-distance) train stations, denn Fernbahnhöfe sind überregionale Bahnhöfe.

long-distances services operating from stations

"[...] a major hub of the German Intercity rail network with long-distance services operating from stations like Bahnhof Zoo and Ostbahnhof."

Rather longish but reads fluently.
