French term

atelier de personnalisation

French to English Marketing Retail
I'm looking for a snappy term for this. It is basically an interactive area in a store allowing customers to personalise expensive pieces of jewellery.

thanks
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): philgoddard, writeaway

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

sporran Jan 3, 2017:
Is it obvious from the context that it is about jewellery? Because I love Ana's idea of 'corner' and if you could skip the jewellery bit, that would give 'Custom Corner' which is perhaps the 'snappy' you're looking for.

Personal Design Studio

I would imagine this "interactive area" you mention involves some sort of app or program, similar to that described in the following link for the US department store Macy's: http://www.visitmacysusa.com/blog/design-customize-fine-jewe...

If that's the case, this option could work.
Peer comment(s):

agree Margaret Morrison : Agree with "studio" as it gives it the arty feel but prefer "Personalisation Studio", personalisation is a set term (http://uk.reuters.com/article/retail-customisation-idUKL6N0T...

neutral Jennifer White : your link advertises personal jewellery design. The question is about personalisation of pieces, not their design.

custom jewel(le)ry corner

Peer comment(s):

neutral Jennifer White : There is a difference between custom and personalised jewellery 'Phil: see: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-custom-jewelry.htm

neutral philgoddard : I don't think there's a difference, but "corner" doesn't quite do justice to "atelier" in my opinion.

Customization Workshop

Don't know if it's snappy, but definitely a loyal translation. I think 'workshop' could be replaced with more abstract words like 'shop'
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Or studio.

neutral Jennifer White : not customise. See my link above.
