Context @Asker, could you please let us know what you're translating, what text this line is from and what your problem is?

just a heartbeat away

a similar meaning (within reach), but (conveniently!) using the word "heart".

Without more context, I'm not sure if the register is quite right, otherwise I might have chanced a CR of 4!

neutral C@CafeLingua : Would this not be more inclined towards the notion of how far in time it is, rather than how close to the heart it is in spiritual and emotional terms...?

This is a poetry and literature question involving a play on words (as in the ST). You'll see that the Asker is comparing it with "à portée de main" (within [physical] reach" So, literary is the order of the day here, rather than strictly literal :)

within reach of the heart

I agree with your interpretation.

within reach

I don't think you need "of the heart", also it doesn't roll of the tongue

neutral C@CafeLingua : woudl "within reach" without the heart, not refer more to the intellectual part, excluding the mystical, emotional part that's "à portée de coeur"?

close to the heart

simple but to the point...
I am a beginner in the Kudos world... I would need to see the source a bit more completely but to me this seems to fit. Ignore me if I'm "à côté de la plaque".
Peer comment(s):

agree Saro Nova : I like this as well.

Thanks Saro!
agree Chris Pr : Maybe using 'close to heart' also....

Hmm... interesting... it's funny how the source is not easily visible on this discussion page, making the mutual feedback less spontaneous:)) Thanks though !
neutral Carol Gullidge : Fine, for a literal translation, but missing any jeu de mots — I.e., the trickiest part of the question!

within heart's reach

If you want to get creative. Just an option to explore. A play on "within hand's reach" as alluded to herein.
