The idea is that the intrinsic chemical energy of the VOC is used to destroy itself, ie that sufficient heat is generated through oxidation to break down the molecular structure. "Autotherm(y)" does not exist in EN, but the adjective does, so "autothermal pyrolysis" should cover it, or even "autothermal destruction".
