French term or phrase: les éditions de vulgarisation
My question is regarding a contract between a photographer and a publisher planning to publish a particular work (a 'Parisian's diary - featuring photographic images of life in the city, presumably)..

For the record, here is the description of the proposed work: L’Editeur projette d’éditer, publier et divulguer un ouvrage sur le thème du journal intime des parisiens qui a pour titre provisoire « ……………….» (ci-après « l’œuvre »)

So far, most of the clauses are pretty straightforward in terms of what is expected of the Photographer and what the Publisher offers in return, etc.

But here is the clause with which I need help (concept check in particular):

Le droit de reproduire tout ou partie de sa contribution au sein d’ouvrages dont la forme serait distincte de l'édition courante et notamment les ***éditions de vulgarisation*** – vente par correspondance-, les éditions club, au format de poche, illustrée, de luxe ou dans d'autres collections, et plus généralement sous toutes formes et par tous moyens.

As I understand it, 'vulgarisation' suggests 'popularization' - does it simply mean 'the popular press' here? Currently I am having trouble with exactly what this clause is saying... I am not expecting anyone to translate it for me, but would be most grateful for some pointers (I am still working on it). Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I think this came closest to what sat well in the context. Other answers helpful too. Thanks!

popular work issues

Explanation:
I think they mean "cheaper", not exclusive magazines and books. The typical édition de vulgaristion in France are the LIVRE DE POCHE, where you can buy the works at a more than reasonable pice, in a cheap edition. Hope ?ve been somewhat helpful.

agree  Lidija Lazic: oui, vulgariser veut dire mettre à la portée d'un large public, non pas d'un point de vue financier, mais sur le contenu.
