B D Finch (asker) Aug 31, 2020:
Context It's setting out a general procedure rather than a specific test, but in the context of vaccine development.
philgoddard Aug 31, 2020:
"ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is a plate-based assay technique"

Thomas Miles Aug 31, 2020:
Just a suggestion One could of course use 'transfer(ing) to ?plates' to avoid 'plating', as the reagents were clearly prepared in another vessel/container.
Aaya Tarawneh Aug 31, 2020:
There are a lot of different "plates" (or sheets, or films) used in chemistry; it would help to know more about the context- what kind of reaction is it? What test is being performed?
B D Finch (asker) Aug 31, 2020:
@Phil This is about ELISA. Yes, the correct translation may well be "plating", I just didn't know whether that sounded too much like a restaurant kitchen. ; (
philgoddard Aug 31, 2020:
What is this about? What are "ces réactifs" and the "tubes"? Could it mean plating, as in placing on a plate?

coating the plate

Since no specific antigen is mentioned, I'd go with this; based on the steps outlined in the source philgoddard included in the discussion above (https://www.thermofisher.com/us/en/home/life-science/protein...

immobilization on assay plate

This might fit. See https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5540965/ . Similar examples can be found in the net.
