This is an imported word from Azeri into Farsi, which is ; Saymakh
The word "Sayasan" is actually an Azeri term from the Saymakh ســایماخ which means counting. Sayasan سایاسان means ...count which is actually used in a sentence like ; agar san sayasan.....if you should count....

Comment: "Thanks for the explanation. It seems strange though that someone would use such a word in a medical study. It wasn't recognized by any of the Iranian ProZ members. Everyone who responded did agree that the meaning was clearly "count/number/amount"."

I believe it is a spelling typo
Note from asker:
I am thinking the same thing, but it is a very strange typo in a professional paper. |

Thanks for pointing that out.
I think, regarding the meaning of 'sayasan' I must have jumped into conclusion a bit quickly,
however I still think my suggestion offers reasonably acceptable meaning to the sentence:
حجم نمونه با اطمینان 95 درصد و خطای نوع اول 0/05 سایاسان مصرف
آنتی اکسیدان ها حدود 200 مورد در هر گروه درمان و کنترل
بود
in the sample, with %95 confidence and 0.05 type one error, 200 prticipants in each control and treatment group, connsumed Anti Occidan.

Note from asker:
Your reference is the very same one I mentioned. Can you offer any links to other research? When I Googled it, the very same study was the only hit that was found in Persian. I have checked every Persian dictionary I can and it doesn't seem to exist. |
