YES, I do know it's in the glossaries.
My specific query about "implementation" regards when it is used as a noun, , for example in this link: http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/7/api/javax/ws/rs/client/Clien...
... Could we say that this usage cprresponds to the definition of a "plug-in"? It came up in a text I am translating from Spanish, which in English would roughly be " Contains objects with the client SOAP request *plug-in* to invoke the service..."
(Contiene los objetos con la implementación de la petición SOAP del cliente necesaria para poder invocar el servicio de validación de comprobantes timbrados. Estos objetos son autogenerados por la herramienta Wsdl2Java de CXF, y por tanto no se van a explicar en detalle.)

"Which implement the SOAP provider/service/calls". It's very different from a plug-in.

I've written about SOAP and managed people writing it. But your IT wonks can of course do and define as they wish :-)

"very different from a plug-in" maybe that's too categoric - there are situations where it might be described as such, but it's not what springs to mind. I haven't time to read more.

Note from asker:
I know how to use the verb implement. However, my client and the reference sources I've consulted say that "implementación/implementation" is the noun, both in English and Spanish. I've also posted this in ES-EN if you want to see how the client defined it for me. |
PS: The text and translating was written by an IT wonk and is pretty badly drafted. I have to try to make it understandable for the lay user with only basic knowledge of IT and programming etc. |
The client says its an API, and wikipedia says "...an API can facilitate integration of new features into existing applications (a so-called "plug-in API"). |
Cheers DL, I'll wait and see what they say about it on Monday :) |

Comment: "In the end I think I just called it an API... cheers Donal for the help :-)"
