Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

the mark obtained has been limited because it's the second time the exam has been taken

The first reference to come up on Google when one asks 'capping + university exam' is this
https://www.nuigalway.ie/exams/results/repeat-capping/
In August 2015, the University’s Academic Standing Committee agreed to introduce capping for repeat exams and assessments. Capping means that when students repeat their exams or assessments, the maximum mark they can be awarded is the pass mark for the module (i.e. 40%).

In this particular case then, the mark obtained is apparently the maximum possible, but does not necessarily reflect the student's ability as it is not possible to give them more than a fixed %So for example, the student's paper is worth, objectively 70%. But only 40% is given because that is the maximum possible.

Means that an exam taker field to pass more than once

Resit/Resubmit. You have failed to satisfy the examiners in the assessments for one or more modules. You are required to retake the assessment(s) and the mark you achieve will be capped at 40% for a pass.

disagree B D Finch : Though your explanation seems correct, your suggested translation is not grammatical English.
