En la industria papelera por Parent se entiende el tamaño matriz del papel, que luego es cortado a la medida especificada por el cliente.
Por ejemplo, el uso más frecuente es "Parent roll", que equivale a "rollo madre". Un rollo madre es el fabricado en la máquina de papel, y luego, en otra máquina cortadora se corta en rollos más pequeños a la medida exigida por el cliente. Con las hojas pasa lo mismo. De una hoja cortada a un tamño estandar, se puede pasar a la medida que quieras.
