English term

Careless/Reckless/Imprudent driving

English to Spanish Other Automotive / Cars & Trucks Careless/Reckless/Imprudent driving

Motor Vehicle Record Grading Criteria
Major Violations :
 Careless/Reckless/Imprudent driving

¿Alguna sugerencia?

Discussion

Robert Carter Sep 12, 2017:
I think Charles is right and that careless and imprudent are probably one of those legalese "couplets" like "null and void" or "cease and desist". You can probably find a nuance in there somewhere (as lawyers invariably will), but mostly they mean the same thing, and are codified as such in several US statutes.
Charles Davis Sep 12, 2017:

As I understand it, "temeraria" is a good option for "reckless".

Or perhaps: "negligencia/temeridad/imprudencia al conducir"

agree Charles Davis : I agree with temeraria for reckless. This is approx. the UK offence of dangerous driving, whereas careless/imprudent is UK "driving without due care and attention". I don't think "careless" and "imprudent" are different offences anywhere in the US.

Thanks, Charles. Some US cities even refer to them as "C&I offenses". In any case, they are simply placeholders for specific traffic violations, such as those listed above, similar to the way "felony" and "misdemeanor" are used.
