English term

when ears we flower?

English to Russian Other Poetry & Literature
"Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us"

Where do we go from here?
Where do we go?
And is it real or just something we think we know?
Where are we going now?
Where do we go?

Cause if it's the same as yesterday, you know I'm out, just so you know,
Because, because our paths they cross,
Yesterday was hard on all of us, on all of us,

Who can we trust from here?
Who can we trust?
And are you real or just something from wanderlust?
Who can you trust when ears we flower?
Who can you trust?

From cradle to grave, from ashes to ashes, from dust to dust,
Because, because our paths they cross,
Yesterday was hard on all of us, on all of us

:-) ! My Ukrainian was from Google :-), но я всё разобрала в Вашем ответе, чему очень обрадовалась, даже шутку поняла!
There are several printed versions of that line posted on the Internet; I suspect different people wrote down the words as they heard them, without actually seeing the lyrics. That's why we get 'here, dear, ears, etc.' The available audio recordings, rather than the printed lyrics, are our best bet, I think.

:-) Христос народився! У нас у зараз так вітаються, замість добрий вечір. Хто не знає як відповісти, нехай краще не приїздить до Львова. (Жартую. Some Ukrainian back :-)
It was just a moment of inspiration. While now it’s a moment to observe how my flower ears can get flowered. :-) Instead of finding the original text of the poem I rushed to reply. It's fair enough to translate the original, unlike the customer Really wanted to give it the meaning I’ve suggested.

Спасибо, Алена И Вас тоже З Новим Роком і Різдвом Христовим!

Thank you, Alexandra Дэвид нашел оригинал, что тут еще добавить, молодец! Но это не технический текст, вполне вероятно, заказчику самому захотелось так изменить данное стихотворение. Или просто ошибка. Iberi, вам лучше уточнить у заказчика. С наступающим Рождеством!

@ AlenaK I thought that your guess was interesting, and I liked Igor's guess as well, but since the recording and the lyrics are available online, I tend to agree with David - I suspect it's a mistake.
Iberi would know more about the customer, of course.
*Alena* Jan 6, 2014:
:-) yes, perhaps I believe that English always makes sense even if I would one day meet a pigeon and it would start speaking English, I would be able to translate it, guarantee. Ear we flower=my sweet dear flower, great! :-) What if the customer wasn't English and itentionally changed it?
David Knowles Jan 5, 2014:
It's hard to make sense of the words as presented You've all done a good job of trying to make sense of "when ears we flower", and maybe I'm not sufficiently poetical, but I think it's a mistake, which is why I went looking for different transcriptions!
David Knowles Jan 5, 2014:
The words are not clear It may be "Who can you trust from here, sweet Flower?" or something similar.

Может, фишка здесь: На Гавайах a flower in the right ear means your taken. A flower in the left means your single. "Можно ли доверять цветку за ухом?"

Thank you, David. It's fun to imagine all sorts of "ear" things, though. I had a vision of the flowering ears of the doomed corn :-)

agree Sofia Gutkin : It's hard to hear, but I think you're right. Otherwise, the lyrics make NO SENSE.

Mariya, Sofia, Dilshod - thank you. I listened to a couple of recordings of the song, and I hear "my dear sweet flower" still.
