thanks, Alla, Marina and Svenska and all the rest while i am typing this - it's all clear now! my french is like - non-existent- remember reading an article in 'l'humanite' and discussing it with the examiner in french and passing my exam though long long time ago.
but "пофигизм" - is just what suits the context - not very respectable (to put it mildly) gay club in london called hmmm, mmm, uuummm 'fist' and guys cruising each other .....
